Loren C. Carpenter, 72, of Middlebury Center, RD 2, died Friday at his home. Born October 21, 1893 in Cedar Run, he was the son of Mortimer and Carrie Spatts Carpenter. A retired farmer, he was a member of the Middlebury Union Grange and the Middlebury Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for 30 years. Survived by widow, Harriet Bodine Carpenter; a daughter, Mrs Charles Foster of Philadelphia; son Ronald of Crooked Creek; two sisters, Mrs Mabel Collins of Wellsboro and Miss Ava Carpenter of Middlebury Center; two brothers, William of Tioga and Ray of Middlebury Center and five grandchildren. Services were held from the Kuhl Funeral Home on Monday with the Rev. G. Fay Crossman officiating. Burial in Middlebury Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Harriet B. Carpenter, 74, of Middlebury Center died in Corning, NY Hospital, Friday, December 25 after a short illness. She was the widow of Loren Carpenter. She was born Nov. 6, 1896 in New Jersey, the daughter of Edward and Jennie Hamlen Bodine. She was a member of the Middlebury Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs Charles (Jane) Foster of Corning; a son, Ronald of Crooked Creek; a brother, Freemond Bodine of Elmira, N.Y.; five grandchildren and a greatgrandchild. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Kuhl and Spink funeral home with the Rev. G. Fay Grossman officiating. Burial was in Middlebury Union Cemetery.
