Obituary, The Oklahoman (Oklahoma City, OK) of 20 July 2017.
January 3, 1954 - July 15, 2017 YUKON. Thomas (Tom) Patrick Bodine, 63, of Yukon, Oklahoma, died July 15, 2017, from complications resulting from Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Tom was born January 3, 1954 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His education took him through a number of schools including Bishop John Carroll, Christ the King, and Bishop McGuinness where he met lifelong friends Tommy Milam and Phil Blette. As a teenager, Tom worked throwing newspapers, taught himself to play guitar, played bass guitar in a rock and roll band, and spent his summers working in Buena Vista, Colorado. Tom cruised to Bishop McGuinness each morning listening to the Beatles in his '63 Tempest and later in his red '65 GTO, where he served as the sports editor for his high school newpaper. He dreamed of attending the University of Oklahoma and did upon his high school graduation. Little did Tom know, it would be at Oklahoma City University where he would find his true love, Ann Elizabeth Thompson. Tom and Ann's first date was to Charcoal Oven and an Alice Cooper concert, sealing their fate as they would eventually marry on June 4, 1977. Tom and Ann's wedding at the OCU Chapel was followed by a reception that, to this day, is regarded as the greatest party of all time at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. In the ten years following their wedding day, Tom and Ann had three beautiful daughters who would become the center of their world. On April 7, 1992, Tom became both mother and father to their three daughters when his true love lost her hard fought battle with breast cancer. Tom, the girls' superhero, traveled often while he worked for Dole Foods, but with the assistance of the Thompson family never missed a dance recital, basketball game, school production, or birthday party. During the girls' childhood, Tom spent the majority of his time cooking and caring for not only his three girls, but their many friends and teammates who he cared for as his own. Tom, a proud Democrat, loved classic rock, Sunday lunches with Nanny and Papa, Thai food, Friday lunches with his best friends Larry Hazelwood and Tommy Milam, Sooner football, flying planes, building computers, and Christmas Dinner at Uncle David's. Above all of those things, Tom loved playing with his grandbabies Kaesen and his namesake, Bodhi Thomas. His ornery, hilarious personality not only kept family and friends entertained, but taught his daughters and all of those around him how to be courageous and optimistic in the most trying of times. In Tom's entire lifetime, he never missed an opportunity to express to his daughters how proud he was of them and how much he loved them. Tom was preceded in death by his wife Ann Elizabeth Bodine, parents Charles and Carol Fisk Bodine, sister Dorothy Miller, and brother Leo Bodine. Tom is survived by his daughter Virginia Martin and husband, Adrian of Alexandria, Virginia; his daughter Elizabeth (Lizzy) Montgomery and husband, Jonathan of Yukon; daughter Carol Bodine of Yukon; and by loving in-laws Maurice (Buddy) and Ann Thompson of El Reno. Tom is also survived by his two grandchildren Kaesen Jane and Bodhi Thomas Montgomery of Yukon. Memorial donations may be made to or the . Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 10am at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home at 14624 N. May Avenue, Oklahoma City. Interment followed in the Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be all day July 21, 2017, with the Wake starting at 7pm at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home at 14624 N. May Avenue, Oklahoma City.
