Notes for: James Aaron Bodine
There is an Archibald Bodine who married a Mary Cookliez (could that me Conklin?) on Aug. 31, 1899 in Manhattan, NY. His father was Barton Bodine and his mother Elizabeth Thompson. Her parents were Patrick Cookliez and Jennie Ryan. I wonder if that Archibald was not this James A. Bodine. And Elizabeth Thompson could possibly have been Elizabeth Jane Thompson. That's just a wild guess, but not many Barton Bodines were running around back then.
From Ronny Bodine:
James and Mary Bodine lived in Jersey City, Hudson County 1900-1930 where James worked as a carpenter. In 1900, he reported that in 6 years of marriage his wife had borne 3 children of whom only 1 was then living and in 1910 reported that in 16 years of marriage 4 children had been born, but only one was surviving. In the 1930 census, William Conklin, age 16, lived with James and Mary Bodine and was recorded as their grandson. Yet, in 1920, he was the son of William Conklin, neighbor to James and Mary Bodine, and brother of Ruth Conklin, who, in 1910, was the daughter of William and Florence Conklin. Florence was clearly not the daughter of James and Mary Bodine, so the reference to his being their grandson seems questionable.
From New Jersey Marriage Records:
2 Aug 1893, Jersey City, Hudson County: Aaron Bodine, 33 to Mary Trainor, 21.
