ARAB - Charles Bodine, 73, died Monday at his home. The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at New Friendship Baptist Church. Burial was to be in the adjoining cemetery with Gober Funeral Home of Arab in charge. Survivors include his wife, Kathrine Bodine; three daughters, Charline Swetzig of Madison, Doreen Saint of Arab and DeeAnna Sivley of Danville; mother, Clara Bodine of Arab; two sisters, Marie Flemings and Mary Yancy, both of Arab; one brother, Edward Bodine of Arab; and two grandchildren.

Kathrine A. Bodine, 83, of Arab died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at Huntsville Hospital. Mrs. Bodine, was born Aug. 21, 1928, in Marshall County to Will and Drussell Whisenant Merritt. She was married to the late Charles Bodine, who preceded her in death Dec. 7, 1998. She was a life-long resident of Arab, retired employee with Arab City Schools cafeteria services department and worked for SCI. She was an active and dedicated member of New Friendship Baptist Church since the age of 16 and was a long-standing member of AEA. She is survived by three daughters: Charline Swetzig, Doreen Saint and DeeAnna Sivley of Arab; and two granddaughters: Stephanie Sivley and Vanessa Saint. The funeral was at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at New Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Strickland and the Rev. Gus King officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing. Pallbearers were Terry Alldredge, Bo Coker, Jacob Faulk, Johnny Holloway, Don Isbell and Mark Tidmore.
