Notes for: Martin V. Berdine

Martin V. Berdine, age 22, a resident of Henry, Marshall County, Illinois enlisted 11 Aug 1862 in Marshall County and was mustered in 27 Aug 1862 as a Private in Company B, 86th Illinois Infantry Regiment (USA). According to regimental records he was wounded and captured at the battle of Chickamauga 19 Sept 1863, but it is recorded in a 1888 biography of his brother George, in "Portrait and Biographical Album of Sedgwick County, Kansas" that he died on that battlefield.
