SCOFIELD--Mrs. John W. (Cathleen A. "Kate") Bodine, 52, of 6201Scofield Rd., an employee of Universal Die Casting, Saline, for 31 years until retiring because of illness, died at 12:10 this morning in her home. She had been ill with cancer 2 1/2 years, seriously ill for six months. Friends may call after 7 tonight in the Liedel Funeral Home, Maybee. She will lie in state Friday in East Raisinville United Methodist Church, Monroe, of which she was a member, from noon until services at 1 p.m. The Rev. Paul R. Crabtree, assisted by the Rev. Thomas P. Macaulay of Carleton United Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will be in Northside Cemetery, Maybee. Born Nov. 19, 1931 in Frenchtown Township, she was the daughter of James R. and Thelma (O'Connell) McDonald. She was married Nov. 22, 1947, to John W. Bodine in St. Paul's United Methodist Chapel, Monroe, by the Rev. H. T. Howard. Surviving are her husband; her mother, Mrs. Thelma M. Sachs of Monroe; two daughters, Gale L. Bodine of Ypsilanti and Gloria J. Yensch of Monroe; four sisters, Mrs. Betty Nolan of Carleton, Mrs. Dwight (Roberta) Servey of Wisconsin, Mrs. Raymond (Donna) Oley of Monroe and Mrs. Norman (Rose) Benschoter of Ypsilanti, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father. Memorials may be made to the East Raisinville United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.

MAYBEE--John W. Bodine, 74, of Maybee died at 4:15 a.m. Friday at Toledo Hospital. He had been ill for a week. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Liedel Funeral Home, Maybee, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Northside Cemetery, Maybee. Born Aug. 27, 1928, in LaSalle, he was the son of John B. and Muriel (James) Bodine. He married Cathleen McDonald Nov. 22, 1947, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Monroe. She died May 23, 1984. He was employed as a millwright at Stearns in Flat Rock from 1951 to 1979. He also worked as a millwright at Karmazon in Wyandotte from 1979 until 1988 when he retired. He made his home with Janet Chalupka for the past 18 years. Besides Mrs. Chalupka, he is survived by two daughters, Gale Bodine of Carleton, and Gloria Yensch of Monroe; a brother, Charles (Shirley) of Clairmont, Fla.; a sister, Beulah Sweet of Monroe, three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his wife, a brother, Harold, and a sister, JoAnn Francisco.
