This is the obituary for Nova Jean Moon. I have changed the original a little. I put in the in-laws when I knew them and the father of her children. For the most part it is as written in the paper. This is a small home town paper that has a subscription rate that is larger than the population of the town (Guntersville, AL.), which is never heard of.

Best regards,
Thomas Bodine

Moon, Nova Jean 87, of Guntersville, AL died Sun, Nov 26, 2004 in the hospital at Scant City, AL. She was born Mar 7, 1917 in Guntersville, AL to Curtis Elbert and Annie Johnson Bodine. (The father of her children was Emmett Moon Jr.) She was especially talented at sewing quilts and making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for children. She would at times mail them all over the world for others to enjoy. She was a life-long resident of Guntersville. Ms. Moon worked at the old Guntersville Elementary School cafeteria and later worked at the Yost Five and Dime store. She began working for Hubble Bakery in 1955 and remained there for over 17 years after being promoted to secretary/bookkeeper. After the bakery was sold and renamed Charlie's Cookies, she stayed in her position until she retired in 1987. She loved gardening flowers and often stated "there is no such thing as an ugly flower." She kept a vegetable garden up until her last 2 years of life. She spent many hours in the kitchen canning and freezing everything she had grown. She spent most of her indoor time reading. Her favorite book was the Bible. Ms. Moon was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. Her special ministry to others focused around visiting nursing homes, home-bounds, mailing cards and cooking pies and meals for friends and family. She is a past member of the Business Professional Women's Association and a current member of the Lakeside Quilting Club and the RSVP Quilters Club. Survivors: daughters and two sons-in-law, Deborah Moon, Marguriete and Jim Williams and JoAnn and Neal Fossett; son, Larry Ray Moon; sisters and a brother-in-law, Odessa Powers and Nan and Dr. Dennis Brown; brother, Grady Bodine; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Andy Moon; sister, Annette Madden; brothers, Clarence Bodine and infant, William Tell Bodine. Burial was Tue, Sept 28, 2004 in Crestview Cemetery in Guntersville, AL. Advertiser-Gleam. Wed, Sept 29, 2004.

...

Odessa Bodine Powers is still living (91), Nan Bodine Brown still living. It's has been a little diffcult to get family information for some reason.

Sibling, William Tell Bodine, I was not aware of him.

The infant Andy Moon did not live long after birth. Nova Jean told me he weighed 15 pounds. Husband had already left her.

I hope this will help some.
Thomas
