On 5 June 1917, Clare Robert Bodine registered in Kuna, Ada County, Iowa for the World War I draft. He reported he was born 6 May 1895 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, was married, and engaged in farming. In 1930, Clare Bodine worked as a salesman for the Flecher Oil Company in Kuna.

MERIDIAN - Services for Clare R. Bodine, 72, 1127 Meridian, who died Monday in a Boise hospital, will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Robison Chapel of the Chimes. The Rev. Ralph Fothergill of the Meridian Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be at Meridian cemetery. He was born May 6, 1895, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He moved to Boise with his parents when he was 4 and spent most of his life In the Meridian area. He married Lena Neglay in Kuna, Nov. 30, 1916. He operated Bodine Oil Co. in Meridian and was vice president of Meridian Savings and Loan. He was a member of the Meridian city council from 1939 through 1945. Bodine was a member of the Meridian Methodist Church, Meridian Lodge 47, AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, El Koran Shrine, Meridian Shrine Club and the Chamber of Commerce. He was a charter member of the Lions Club and had been a member of Kuna's IOOF Lodge for 40 years. Survivors include his wife, two sons, Loren of Boise and Marvin of Meridian; a daughter, Mrs. LaVerne Pitkin of Meridian; his mother, Mrs. Anna Bodine of Caldwell; three sisters, Mrs. Verna Eby, Mrs. Hazel Carstens and Mrs. Lucille Treat, all of Boise; 10 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Pallbearers will be E.O. Boice, Paul Salisbury, Merrell Balius, Jack Green, Win Hedrick and Wallace Lovan. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Iverson, Fred Dittmar, Art Ross, Albert Lawson, Leo Helkes, Glenwood Robinson, Keifer Biddle, Voris Botkin, Harry Yost, Francis Veach and Orin Laing.
