Notes for: Harriet ("Hattie") P. Bodine
It seems to me that Harriet and Edward Bigelow must have divorced after they had child Lillian in 1873. My best guess would be to put that they divorced between 1874 to 1879.
From Ronny Bodine:
Harriet Bodine, age 11, was living 1860 with her parents.
1st marriage--1866--EDWARD ELI BIGELOW.
The record of her marriage in Peoria County on 23 Jan 1866 names the parties as Edward E. Bigelow and Mrs. Harriet P. Bodine. In 1870, Edward E. Bigelow, age 25, was living with his parents in Elmwood, Peoria County as neighbors to John Bodine and his family. Clearly, referring to Harriet as Mrs. was in error.
1910 Topeka, Shawnee Co., KS: Edward BIGELOW 65 NY widowed

Soldiers Home. The death of Edward A. Bigelow is given as on August 10, with burial August 12. He had Civil War service Co. I, 77th Illinois Infantry.
The Burial Record of Leavenworth National Cemetery records the death on 10 Aug 1919 of Edward E. Bigelow of Company I, 11th Illinois Infantry.

2nd marriage--TIMOTHY GRAHAM.
By 1870 Edward and Harriet Bigelow were separated or divorced as by 1880, Harriet was married to Timothy Graham and living in Placer, Costilla County, Colorado.
From Colorado Federal Census Records:
1880 Placer, Costilla County: Timothy Graham 39 NY R.R. Station Master, Hattie 28 IL wife, Lily 8 NB dau.

Obituary, Salida (CO) Mail of 23 Aug 1895.
Mrs. T. G. Graham died early Thursday morning at the hospital from the effects of a surgical operation for a hernia. For the past 5 years Mrs. Graham has been a sufferer from this disease and for a long time has undergone the most horrible suffering. There was no possible chance for recovery and an operation was resorted to as a last hope, though the physicians had but little expectation of her recovery. The operation was successfully performed but her shattered constitution could not stand the strain thus put upon it. Mrs. Graham was a well known lady of an eminently Christian character. Severe suffering for years past and her ultimate sad death elicits from her many friends the sincerest sympathy. She leaves a husband and 1 grown daughter to mourn her loss.
Burials in Fairview Cemetery, Salida, Chaffee County, Colorado.

My name is Katherine Bradbury-Alexander. I ran across your Bodine Genealogy home page today. You have Harriett Bodine as not surviving. This is not true as she was my g g grandmother. Her and Edward Bigelow did have one child, Lillian Gertrude Bigelow, born Sep 6, 1873. There is a discrepancy on whether she was born in Nebraska or Alamosa, Colorado. 1900 census for Chaffee County, Colorado shows her born in Colorado but 1880 census for Costilla Colorado show she was born in Nebraska. I found an August 1870 census with Harriet on it in Nebraska but the husband shown is Edwin Bigelow so not sure if this was a typo or not, as all his dates match. I know Edward was also on the 1870 census with his parents in Illinois in June 1870 so not sure what that is about. I do know that by 1880 both were married to others. I haven't been able to find any divorce records or any other records on Edward Bigelow. The 1880 census for Costilla, Colorado shows Harriet married to Timothy Graham and lists Lily as his daughter. I also found an 1880 census for Edward Bigelow in Missouri married to a Cynthia A. Greer.
Harriet (aka Hattie) died Aug 23, 1895 in Salida, Chaffee County, Colorado at the Fairview Cemetery in Salida. Harriet and Timothy Graham had one child, Bertha M. Graham born Nov 16, 1885 and died Jan 23, 1898 at 12 years old. Both Harriet and Bertha are buried in the Rout plot at the Fairview Cemetery in Salida, Chaffee County, Colorado.
Lillian Gertrude Bigelow married Clarence Rout in Salida, Colorado in 1897. They had 10 children of which one was my grandmother, Mary Edna Rout. Lillian's info. was taken from the Clarence Milbourne Rout's family bible.
I have received most of my info. from my aunt but she doesn't remember much now as she is in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's.
Should you have any further questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Kathy
