From June 1860 on, Orange and Mary Starlin lived in Darien, Walworth County, Wisconsin. Orange Starin served as a Corporal with Company K, 2nd Wisconsin Cavalry (USA) during the Civil War. In 1900, he reported that in 47 years of marriage his wife had borne 8 children of whom 7 were living. Orange Starin was buried in Darien Cemetery.

Orange Clark Starin, son of Adam (75), was born on the 12th of November, 1831. He was married in Cayuga county, N. V., on the 8th of April, 1852, to Mary A. Bodine, who was born in Niles, Cayuga county, N. V., on the 3d of April, 1833. He is a farmer, and they both reside (1892) at Darien, Wis.
Children: Eunice L. (8 June 1854), Amelia Delila (27 April 1856), Charles (7 July 1860), Ettie Jane (19 April 1862), William Henry (19 July 1864), Harvey (22 April 1867), Nellie Lenora (19 July 1871), Frederick Franklin (28 Dec 1874).

Subject: Mary Ann Bodine Starin
Recently I have been helping my great aunt work on her genealogy. She is related to Mary Ann Bodine Starin. My mother went to the court house today in Elkhorn, Walworth County Wisconsin to look up Mary Ann's death certificate. This is what she found:
Mary Ann Starin died 14 October 1916 in the Village of Darien of Nephritis of two years. Buried Darien on Oct. 17. Born 3 April 1833 in New York. Age 83 years, 6 months and 11 days.
Father - Abraham Bodine born NY
Mother - Maria Bodine born NY
Informant - Mrs. Alice Lindeman, Darien, Wis.

Her obituary states:
The funeral services of Mrs. Mary Starin
were held at her late home
Tuesday afternoon. Rev. G. M. King
officiating. Mrs. Starin, whose maiden
name was Mary Bodine, was
born at Niles, New York, April 3, 1833,
and was married in 1852 to Orange
C. Starin, who passed away Aug. 8,
1916. They came to Darien to reside
sixty years ago. The following children
are left to mourn her loss: Mrs.
Nellie Wilkins of Clinton, Mrs. Eunice
McCullough of Monticello, Ind.,
Charles Starin and Mrs. Etta Huber

ON LINE everyone seems to think Mary Ann's father was Cornelius. . . can you help?

Sharyn,
I took an ititial look at this and wish to point out the following, below, in that Abram Bodine, son of Cornelius, leaves a legacy to his sister, Mary A. Starin. I believe the error was that rather than Cornelius Bodine and his wife Delilah being named as her parents, both of whom died long before, her brother Abraham Bodine and his wife Maria were named. The details in the obituary were likely provided by one of Mary's children and the wrong names were provided. Were it not for the will, this obituary would have been more difficult to untangle.

From the Auburn Weekly Bulletin (Auburn, N.Y.) of April 1907.
The will of the late Abram M. Bodine of Owasco was admitted to probate and letters testamentary were issued to Affy E. Bodine, the widow, and Morris E. Spafford. The estate consists of $7,000 personal and $6,000 real property. The will was made April 13, 1881, and provides for the widow having a life use of the entire estate and at her death is to go to missions of the Reformed Church of America. The sum of $1,000 goes to the Board of Foreign Missions of the Reformed Church of America and the balance to the Board of Domestic Missions of the same church. A sister, Mary A. Starin of Darien, Wisconsin, is left a legacy of $250. George Duryea and Smith Selover were appointed appraisers.
