Jim spent many years of his early life participating in swimming competitions and has won hundreds of awards. Jim started swimming at the age of 18 months. In 1977 he finished with 5 national Top Ten rankings, of which h is best showing was 4th in the 100 yard individual medley. In April 1978 he captured 9 events at the Far Western Short Course Championships setting national records in the 200 freestyle and the 200 individual medley, and meet records in the other 7 races. In August 1978 at the Far Western Long Course Championships he set 4 national records and wound up as the meet's high point winner over the 1000-plus other competitors. His nine national records are the highest number by any male age grouper since 1970. His 21 individual Top Ten rankings are also the highest number for any 10 and under male since 1970. In 1979, for boys aged 11-12, Jim held the following highest rankins among the Top 25: 2nd Place: 200 yard freestyle, 3rd Place: 400 meter freestyle, 100 yard freestyle, 100 yard individual medley, 50 yard freestyle.

JAMES BODINE James "Jimbo" Bodine, 44, of Henderson, passed away Oct. 8, 2012. He was born Oct. 19, 1967, in San Diego, and was a 16-year resident of Nevada. He was a professional window cleaner for a local company for 15 years. He is survived by his parents, Lavonna and James Bodine; brother, Patrick (Tiffanie); and nephew, Patrick James of San Diego. Jimbo had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. His beautiful smile and crystal blue eyes will shine forever in our hearts. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Torrey Pines Glider Port, Ocean Cliffs, San Diego.
