Loyce LaVerne Campbell, 89, of the 100 block of Kansas Ave., died Aug. 3, 2003 in her residence.

A native of McLean, Texas, she was the widow of John Welch Campbell and predeceased by her daughter, Jean C. Arcese. Mrs. Campbell was a member of River Shore Baptist Church, where she was active in Sunday school and Women on Missions. She was a member of the Christian Women's Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty C. Bond of Portsmouth; a brother, Thomas A. Bodine Jr. of Amarillo, Texas; four grandchildren, E. Susan Oldfield of Chesapeake, Jim Bond and wife Betty of Portsmouth, Pasquale Arcese and wife Kathy and Steven Arcese, all of Virginia Beach; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. John Robertson. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to River Shore Baptist Church.
