Funeral services honoring the life of Johnny Duane Bodine will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014 at 2:00 PM at East Leesville Baptist Church, 266 Alexandria Hwy in Leesville, Louisiana, with Rev. Jeff Smart officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery on Belview Rd., under the direction of Jeane's Funeral Service of Leesville. Visitation will be Monday, April 21st, 2014 from 5:00-9:00 PM at East Leesville Baptist Church, and then from 9:00 AM till service time at the church on April 22nd. Johnny, 69, of Leesville was a native of Coleman, Texas, but had lived most of his life in the Leesville area. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during Vietnam. He also worked at the Leesville Fire Dept. for many years. Following that he worked at Ft Polk as a civil service employee until he became ill. Johnny was ordained as a deacon at East Leesville Baptist Church in 2002 where he taught 2 yr old Sunday school for 16 yrs. Working in his yard, reading, and woodworking were things he loved to do, but most of all he loved being a Pa to his grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; John Daniel and Bennie Jo Meriman and Sister, Dannie Baker. Survivors are his wife of 45 yrs, Nelda Haymon Bodine of Leesville; Sons and Daughters in law; Rev. John and Jackie Bodine of Bossier City, Michael and Tyrette Bodine of Leesville; Daughters and son in law: Kimberly Bodine Spooner and William of Leesville, Deborah Bodine of Brownwood, Texas; Sister: Jan Garner of Coleman, Texas; Grandchildren: Zechariah and Christoper Stanton, Nathan, Braden, Charles and Anna Bodine, and Bronson Spooner. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the CIA (Compassion in Action) ministry of East Leesville Baptist Church.
