FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, June 17---Despondent because of ill health, Mrs. Evangeline Suydam, 40, of Suydam road, committed suicide in the bedroom of her home at about 9 a.m. today. The woman shot herself with a .38 calibre revolver, according to State Trooper John Genz, who investigated. Willard Suydam, the woman's husband, and their son, Willard III, 19, were working near the house when they heard a noise. Believing someone had fallen, they investigated and found Mrs. Suydam in the bedroom. Dr. Edgar Flint, county physician, viewed the body. Two others sons, John, 16, and Douglas, 11, survive.

SOUTH MIDDLEBUSH, June 18---Mrs. Evangeline B. Suydam, 40, of this place, wife of Willard V. Suydam, died yesterday from a bullet wound. Born in Franklin Park and a member of the Franklin Park Reformed Church, Mrs. Suydam is survived by three sons in addition to her husband. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. in the Taggart Funeral Home, Bound Brook, with the Rev. George Moore of the Franklin Park Reformed Church officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Plains Cemetery.

FRANKLIN---Willard V. Suydam, 73, of Suydam Road, died yesterday in Somerset Hospital, Somerville. Born in The Bronx, N.Y., he was a long-term area resident. Mr. Suydam retired in 1947 after 24 years as an engineer for Johnson & Johnson. He was a member of the Six-Mile-Run Reformed Church. Surviving are his wife, Edna Suydam; three sons, Willard of Belle Meade, Montgomery, John L. of Edison, and Douglas V. of New Lisbon, Pemberton; two brothers, Harold E. of Franklin Park, and Edgar V. of Pennington; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Quackenboss Funeral Home, 156 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick with the Rev. Dr. John Hayward, pastor of the First Baptist Church of New Brunswick, officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Franklin Park.
