Bordentown--Miss Jean West, daughter of Mrs. Margaret West of 14 Spring Street, is the bride of George E. Bodine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Bodine of 282 Bellevue Avenue, Trenton. The double ring ceremony was performed in the rectory of St. Mary's Church on Saturday afternoon with the Rev. James McGrath officiating. Arthur Bodine of Trenton was his brother's best man.

EWING TOWNSHIP---M. Jean Bodine, 84, died Wednesday in the Capital Health System at Fuld. Born in Bordentown , Mrs. Bodine lived in Ewing for over 39 years. She had formerly worked as a lab technician for John A. Roebling & Sons and General Motors Fisher Body in Ewing. Mrs. Bodine was an avid book reader and belonged to several book clubs. Daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Devine West, and sister to the late Bill, Leon, and Homes West and Mary Varley, she is survived by her husband of 50 years, George E. Bodine; two special nieces and a nephew with their spouses, Kathy and Walter Rapp of Shrewsbury, Susan and Ted Kranski of Browns Mills, and Edward and Erica West of Hammton L.I.; two sister-in-laws and a spouse, Mildred and Henry Whitaker of Hamilton Township and Reba Bodine of Whiting; brother-in- law Arthur Bodine of Sykesville, MD; and several other nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon at the Hartmann Memorial Home, 2830 Nottingham Way. Pastor Richard Guy of the Central Baptist Church of Ewing will have services at noon. EWING -- George E. Bodine, 83, of Ewing passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2007, at the Capital Health System-Fuld Campus, Trenton. Born in Adelphia, Mr. Bodine was a long-time resident of the Trenton and Ewing area. He was a graduate of Luscomb School of Aeronautics. In 1943 George enlisted in the United States Navy and was trained in naval aviation. His training consisted of gunnery, radio and radar schools. On completion, he was sent to Miami for flight training in TBM-1 "Avenger" fighter planes with Squadron VC5. He was then transferred to North Bend, Oregon, where he joined the Aircraft Squadron VC71 as a tail-gunner. George was shipped out of Alameda to Pearl Harbor and received orders to work as aerial cover for the Marines and beach landings. When ready, his squadron entered the "Okinawa Campaign" and was assigned to the Aircraft Carrier USS Manila Bay CVE 61. This carrier received eight battle stars for World War II service. George was honorably discharged in 1945 with the rate and rank of AMM 2nd class and was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Ribbon. He was employed with G.M.C. Fisher Body, located in Ewing, where he retired in 1980 after 38 years of dedicated service. After retirement George decided to enter the field of real estate. He became a real estate appraiser and started his own company, Bodine Appraisal Service. He was a past board member of the Mercer County Realtors Association, past president and the state director of education for the Mercer County Chapter NAIFA, and an instructor of the "55 Alive Mature Driving Course" for the AARP. George was a member of the American Legion Ewing Post 314, Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085, the Senior Group of C.B.C, and a proud parishioner of the Central Baptist Church located in Ewing. Son of the late Harry and Myrtle Bodine, he was also predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years M. Jean Bodine, and two sisters, Eleanor Polensky and Elaine Frawley. He is survived by his sisters, Reba Bodine of Ewing and Mildred Whitaker of Hamilton; his brother, Arthur Bodine of Maryland; his nieces and nephews, Andrew and Maggie Shaudys, Susan Krainski, Harry Polensky of Charlestown, S.C., Stephen Polensky of Doylestown, Pa., David Wolaver of Alexandria, Va., Carol Eigenbrod, Katherine Polensky, Mildred Whitaker, Diane and Lenny Ninaltowski, Kathleen and Wally Rapp; and many great nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life will take place at 11 a.m. Friday (Feb. 9) at the Central Baptist Church, located at 2015 Pennington Road, Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be held the same day from 9-11 a.m. at the church: Tel. (609) 882-0337. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in memory of George to the Central Baptist Church.
