Notes for: James Clyde Bodine
From Ronny Bodine:
James Bodine was a journeyman electrician for the Empire Electric Machinery Company. He installed the bulk of electric equipment and transformer housing for dozens of mines in the Tri-State district. He later became connected as a salesman with the Mid-West Electric Company of Picher, Ottawa County, Oklahoma. James Bodine died as a result of a .32 calibre bullet wound to the head. Mrs. Leona Stiles, a hotel operator, was arrested in connection with the shooting which took place in her apartment. She claimed Bodine shot himself believing the weapon was not loaded. Mrs. Stiles was charged with his murder on 3 Feb 1939. See articles in the 2 and 3 Feb 1939 issues of a local newspaper.
