Alfred Bodine was living 1930 with his parents in McClellan Township, Jefferson County and employed as a packer in a shoe factory. Alfred Bodine enlisted in the U.S. Army in Aug 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. He indicated at the time he was divorced and had children. Alfred and Beulah Bodine were buried in Bethel Cemetery, Jefferson County. Whereas the following newspaper obituary reports his birth on 1 Jan 1910, his birth was recorded by the Social Security Administration as 1 Dec 1910 and that is the date inscribed upon his gravestone.

Alfred G. Bodine, 61, of Route 6 was dead on arrival at 10:20 a. m. yesterday at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bodine was born in Jefferson county on Januay 1, 1910, the son of Ira and Ollie (Wilson) Bodine. On August 13, 1932, he was married to Beulah Wells, who survives. He was an Army veteran of World War II , and was a member of Logan Street Baptist church. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Myers Chapel, with the Rev. Ross Partridge officiating. Burial will be in Bethel cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral chapel after 5 p.m. Wedesday. In addition to his wife, Beulah, Mr. Bodine ia survived by two daughters, Mrs. Diane Knappier, McLeansboro, and Mrs. Sherry Donoho, Kileen, Texas; three sons, Richard Bodine, Barstow, Calif., William Robert Bodine, Needles, Calif., and Gary, at home; a sister, Mrs. Leta Brieseacher, Sparta; and four grandchildren.
