On 27 April 1898, Alexander Bodine was enrolled as a Private into Light Battery "A", Pennsylvania Volunteer Artillery. He was mustered in 6 May 1898 and mustered out with his battery on 19 Nov 1898. Alexander Bodine, age 32 and single, was living 1900 with his 3 siblings and a servant at 2206 Locust Street in Philadelphia. No one in the family reported an occupation. In 1910, Alexander, now 43 and single, was still living in Philadelphia, now with his divorced sister and her son. He now reported his occupation as a farmer in poultry and fruit. In 1920, age 52 and single, he was now engaged in insurance sales in Philadelphia. Alexander Bodine was buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia.

Funeral services for Alexander N. Bodine will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, Seventh and Locust streets. Mr. Bodine, a member of an old Philadelphia family was a son of Frank L. Bodine and nephew of Samuel T. Bodine president of the United Gas Improvement Company, was found dead in his room at the Princeton Club 1221 Locust street early yesterday morning. He was 58 years of age. It is believed that he was stricken with heart disease while he was reading late the night before. A book was found in his hands by the steward who had gone to call him believing he had overslept. For several years Mr. Bodine has been associated with Stokes, Packard, Haighton and Smith. He was a Princeton University graduate of the class of 1890. He is survived by a brother, F. Lawrence Bodine of Newtown Square, Mrs. I. Bodine Valle, a sister and a resident of this city, his uncle, Samuel T. Bodine, and a cousin W. W. Bodine, assistant general manager of the United Gas Improvement Company.
