Notes for: Sarah (Sallie) Maria Bodine

The marriage of Joseph Rubincam of Philadelphia and Sallie M. Bodine of Glassboro, New Jersey was reported in the Woodbury "Constitution" of 6 June 1866. In 1870, Joseph and Sarah Rubincam were living with Sarah's brother Joshua Bodine in Camden. In 1880, the Rubincam family was living in Camden, Camden County, where Joseph worked as a salesman. Sarah was a resident of Denver, Colorado in June 1904 when she corresponded with M.E.S. and furnished information concerning her family and in 1910, aged 64, was living with her son Harry Rubincam in Denver. At that time she reported having borne 8 children of who 6 were then living. By Jan 1920, she was living in Mill Creek Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania with her daughter and son-in-law, Florence and Jay Scribner.
"The Eckel family of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Delaware" (1989), p. 19, reported that Joseph Rubincam was a junior partner in Rubincam & Co., confectioners and fruiters, 1868-1873 and subsequently headed Joseph Rubincam & Co. in Philadelphia. He was a writer for trade journals under the pen name Joseph Macnibur (Rubincam in reverse).
From State of Pennsylvania Certificate of Death for Sarah M. Rubincam: born 30 June 1848; died 15 Jan 1921 in Erie, Erie County, and buried in Philadelphia. Parents are Joshua Bodine & Mary Crouch. Informant was Raymond Rubincam.
Children: Josephine (30 May 1867), Harry Cogswell (1871), Charles B. (1873), Anna Merritt (Jan 1877), Richard Strode (12 May 1880), Florence Eckel (6 Aug 1882), Edward W. (4 June 1889), Raymond Eugene (16 June 1892).
