Subject: Re: Decendendants of Samuel Bodine of Clementon NJ
...The picture you referenced is of Charles Samuel Bodine, brn June 6, 1912 in Philadelphia and died April 9, 1963 in New Jersey somewhere around Laurel Springs Cherry Hill. I am not sure where they were living at the time. The woman is his wife, my aunt by marriage who was the source of some of the information I had. She is Margaret maiden name Stone, Bodine. They were married around 1942 and had 1 son, his name is Barry Stone Bodine born May 26, 1945... He still lives in that same region. He married a Christine Sabitini and I believe they have 2 children Barry Stone II, who is a musician and a daughter Kristen.
Now regarding My father's sister. In the family she was always called Ethyl although I understand her full name was Helen Ethyl, in fact the 1910 census record shows her name as Helen. Ethyl married Arther McCormick. All I know about him is that he was the Brazilian representative of Robinson Construction Company, a subsidiary of United Engineers Corporation. They were doing construction projects in Brazil in the 1930s. In fact my father went to Rio de Janeiro on July 7, 1935 and worked for Arthur until October 29, 1936. I have a letter in my possession from Arthur (nicknamed "Mac") dated 1937 indicating that the construction work was slowing down and they would be possibly be returning home. According to Aunt Margaret (Stone) Ethyl and Arthur had 2 sons named Mac and Neely... My dad always referred to her however as "your aunt Ethyl" in Brazil" so I can only assume that she died in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. The only other information I have on her is that she was a 1926 graduate of Camden Catholic High school. From that I am guessing that she was born around 1909...
Regarding Helen Sheridan Bodine, according again to Aunt Margaret she said that she died in the summer of 1950 of a heart attack. From my personal knowledge, I have no photos of her past 1950, however I did find a reference in a letter to my Dad from my mothers brother that he had talked to Charles and Helen and that they were well in early 1951 so Aunt Margaret could have been off a year. According to Aunt Margaret Helen was 62 at the time of her death, which fits if the the year I have for her birth of 1888 is correct. Now I was still living in the New York area from 1950 until 1957 and I have personal knowledge that she was not ever present when we went to visit My Grandfather at his house in Laurel Springs. My last time to visit Laurel Springs was July 1957, I was 9 at the time. By 1968, I was an adult and I had contact with my grandfather. He was living at various times during this period in the home of a lady Lois Shoulders. She ran a boarding house first in Paulsboro and later moved to Gibbstown...
Regarding my siblings (I have already referenced Uncle Charles and Aunt Margaret having 1 son (Barry). I have 4. Dennis Bodine (no middle name) married to the former Bonnie Smith, no children born 1950 resident of Foley Alabama. Christopher William Bodine (recently retired Exec. VP of CVS Pharmacies) born 1955, married to the former Tina Bianchi of Montgomery, they have 3 children Brett, Anthony and Nicholas and reside in Cranston Rhode Island. Elaine Bodine Carroll is Christopher's fraternal twin, she is married to Scott Carroll, they have 1 daughter Krissa and they reside in Legrand Alabama. The youngest is my sister Barbara Bodine Madison, born 1958, she is now divorced but was married to Donald Madison of Montgomery, they have one son William. She also resides in Legrand Alabama.

Subject: Another bit of Info I learned.
My branch of the family pronounces our last name Bo-deen. I was told by my Aunt Margaret that my great grandfather Samuel changed the pronunciation from Bo-dine to Bo-deen because he wanted a closer affiliation (at least name wise) with the Bodines of Philadelphia. I believe that during the 1920s-1930s there was a Bodine who was president of Philadelphia Light who was related to Samuel Taylor Bodine. I do not know how that branch pronounces their name so it is speculation on my part that that is who he was trying to establish a relation to.

From Ronny Bodine:
William Bodine moved his family to Alabama in 1957.
