In 1956, Peter Bodine started practicing law in Waterloo, Seneca County, New York and established his own practice in 1962. He served as town justice for Waterloo from 1967 to 1981 when he relocated his family to Naples, Florida.

Peter V. N. Bodine passed away on August 27, 1998 in Stuart, Florida. A native of Waterloo, New York, he lived in Florida since 1981. He was a member of the New York State Bar Association practicing law privately until retiring to Florida. He also served 15 years as a member of the New York State Magistrates Association. He is survived by his wife, Jody Bodine, and two daughters, Helen Bodine of Vero Beach and Martha Kramer of Jensen Beach, and one granddaughter. A mass to celebrate his life will be offered at St. Martin de Porres Church, Jensen Beach, Florida, at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 1998. All who wish to attend are welcome. Joanne (Vial) Bodine is the daughter of Edmund Ellsworth Vial. On 5 May 2006 in Martin County, Florida she married Daniel Robert Walker, Sr.
