RYAN, Vivian L. of W. Gray St., Elmira, NY, died on Monday morning, November 24, 2003. At the request of Vivian, there will be no calling hours. A private funeral service will be held at the HOLLY-KECK & BAKER, INC. FUNERAL HOME at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira. Rev. Richard Price officiating. Flowers are welcome. She is survived by her beloved son, James J. Ryan of Albany, NY a sister, Louise Wheatly of Wilmington, DE a very special sister-in-law, Florence R. Peck of Elmira and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Joseph J. Ryan and four brothers and four sisters. Vivian was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, who proudly worked in many finer retail stores in Elmira and in the antique business. During WWII, Vivian assessed in the war effort by working at the Eclipse Corp. She was a uniquely talented musician and enjoyed gardening and rooting for her favorite sports teams. She also found time to frequently enjoy the company of many dear friends. She worked hard her entire life and performed many deeds of kindness and generosity that went unheralded. Vivian was part of the greatest generation.
