Notes for: Achsah L. Bodine
She was the second wife of William Johnson.
From Ronny Bodine:
With every record recording her name differently it is unclear what her real name was intended to be, but a good guess would be she is the namesake of Achsah, who, in the Bible was the daughter of Caleb. Hunterdon County birth records reflect the birth on 19 Oct 1866 in Delaware Township, of Acksah, daughter of J. Bodine. In 1870, she was aged 3 and was 13 in 1880, but in June 1900, she was Achsah L. Bodine, age 35, born Aug 1864 and single, living in the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Harry and Hannah Wood, in Delaware Township, Hunterdon County. The Trenton Evening Times (Trenton, N.J.) of 20 Jan 1904 reported the attendance of Miss Achsie Bodine and Miss Carrie Bodine at the wedding anniversary celebration of a friend in Stockton. The wedding of William Johnson, of Pleasant Valley to Miss Achsah L. Bodine at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Bailey of Prallsville, was reported in the Trenton Evening Times of 17 March 1905. In April 1910, her mother reported one of her four children was no longer living and as Achsah's three sisters were living this claim clearly applied to her. William and Achsah Johnson were buried in Rosemont Cemetery, Hunterdon County.
[Note from Dave: We later found her burial info. Her name on the tombstone is spelled Achsah.]
