I found a website with your email address when I googled “Esther J. Bodine, Montrose” in an attempt to figure out how I happen to have a tattered copy of a psalter/hymnal/catechism published by the Presbyterian Publication Committee in Philadelphia in the mid-1800's. Esther's name is written on the first page, and after viewing your website, I'm thinking she was probably the wife of Hezekiah Bodine, as he is buried in Montrose, PA.

+ M Child 1: Hezekiah Watkins Bodine, Sr.
Born: abt 1811 in New York (prob Orange Co.)
Died: Oct 1889 in prob Liberty, Susquehanna Co., PA
Buried: Oct 30 1889 at Montrose, Susquehanna Co., PA
Wife: Esther Jane Trumpour b. Jul 20 1816 d. 1881
Married: Sep 2 1841 in Montgomery, Orange Co., NY

Inside the book, various calling cards, advertisements and other small paper items are inserted between pages, but none of them contain helpful information.

Is there a way to research (without paying to subscribe to anything) the descendants of Hezekiah and Esther? I don't recall how I happen to have the book, but I wonder if it belonged to my late husband's grandmother, whose maiden name was Daisy White, as she was born “out east” “somewhere,” married to Joseph Horsley and ended up in Waterford, CA. Her sons were born in 1909 and 1911, so I am guessing she could have been their granddaughter.

Interesting! Thank you! I believe the Horsleys lived in Boise before they moved to Waterford. Is this your branch of the Bodine family, or is it a different one?

My husband and I took a couple of trips to California in 2014 and 2016, and both times we visited the historical museum in Waterford, where we learned that his grandparents had been members of a Baptist church there, and we met a lady named Maryann Brush who had been a pupil in a Sunday School class taught by his Grandma Daisy when Maryann was a young girl. Daisy and her husband are buried in Modesto, I believe, but we didn't have time to visit that cemetery when we were there. J.F., incidentally, are the initials of Daisy's husband, Joseph Franz Horsley.

Thanks again. I'll click on the notes you mentioned.

It is! Just one more thing, and then I will bother you no more. In reading the notes about Elsie, I discovered she died in 1926 in Stanislaus County, CA, and Waterford is in Stanislaus County. My husband's father would have been 15 at the time, and his brother, 17. I've seen the house where they lived and it would have been a very tiny place for a family with two teenage sons and a grandma! I wish I would have discovered all this before my husband passed away. He would have found it interesting.
