Barbara and husband moved to Abbeville County, South Carolina with her brother, Reginald. Their descendant, Jos. E. Brown, was Governor of Georgia during the Civil War.

Barbara married John Gresham in 1746 in Virginia. John was born Jan. 8, 1713 in Essex Co., VA. He died 1814.
