Louie R. Bodine, of Shidler, Osage Co., Okla. AND Ruth Virginia Eubank, of Columbia, Cherokee Co., Kansas, were married 6 May 1942 in Joplin by Frank Armstrong, J.P.

On 24 Sept 1940, Louie R. Bodine, of Osage, Oklahoma, enlisted in the U.S. Army in Oklahoma City. At their marriage in 1942, the couple was recorded as Louie R. Bodine of Shidler, Osage County, Oklahoma and Ruth Virginia Eubank, of Columbus, Cherokee County, Kansas. Ruth was the daughter of William Elijah and Cora (Cook) Eubanks. Staff Sgt. Louie R. Bodine, while serving with the 407th Infantry, 102nd Infantry Division in the Netherlands was killed in action on 23 Feb 1945 and was buried in Margraten Cemetery, Margraten, Holland. His military awards included the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart. In 1949, Ruth Bodine married Richard Merle Burrows (1914-1983). Ruth Burrows was buried in Chetopa Cemetery, Chetopa, Kansas.

CHETOPA - Ruth V. Eubanks Burrows, 84, of Chetopa, formerly of Columbus, died at 2:15 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2005, at the Chetopa Manor Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 25, 1921 in Pratt to Elijah and Cora (Cook) Eubanks. She married Louie Russell Bodine in 1939. He preceded her in death in April 1944 during World War II. She later married Richard M. Burrows in January of 1949. He also preceded her in death on July 9, 1983. She was a homemaker and attended the Baptist Church in Columbus. She was also active in the Senior Citizens organization in Columbus. Survivors include three daughters, Kay Williams of Oswego, Dianna Ramey and Caroline Sue Pudden of Wichita; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; an infant son; and grandson, Darryl Ray Williams. Memorial graveside services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Columbus.
