Daniel Arendale was tendered a professorship in 1877 at William and Emma Austin College in Stevenson, Alabama. In 1886 he was appointed postmaster at Elk Prairie, Jefferson County. In 1900, Daniel Arendale was practicing medicine in Mount Vernon, Jefferson County. "Loni" Arendale stated she had borne 3 children, all then living. See "History of Jefferson County, Ilinois," by John A. Wall, 1909, pgs 346-349. Daniel and Louie Arendale were buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Jefferson County.

Mrs. Louie Arendale of Bluford, a former well known Mt. Vernon resident, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Good Samaritan Hospital, at the age of 92 years, eight months and 13 days. She was the widow of Dr. D. H. Arendale. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a. m. at Myers Chapel, with the Rev. Lepton Harpole officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel, where her many friends may call after 11 a. m. Sunday. Despite her advanced age, Mrs. Arendale was a constant reader. She was a keen judge of people and a fine business woman. She was born January 29, 1864 in Jefferson county, the daughter of George and Sarah (Quinn) Bodine. She was a lifetime resident of this county. Mrs. Arendale came from sturdy pioneer stock. Her mother, Mrs. Sarah Bodine, who made her home with Mrs. Arendale, lived to the age of 100 years, lacking two weeks. On June 3, 1883 she was married to Dr. D. H. Arendale, who preceded her in death in 1920. She received her education at Ewing College. Mrs. Arendale had been a member of the First Methodist church for many years. She spent most of her life as a resident of Mt. Vernon, moving to Bluford in 1940. She spent about half of each year with her daughter, Mrs. Jay C. Williams in River Forest, Ill. and in Florida. Surviving are one son, Paul Arendale of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Mrs. Jay C. Williams
of River Forest, Ill., and Dr. Lillian Arendale of Massillon, Ohio; a brother, Jess Bodine of Mt, Vernon; three sisters, Mrs. Lew Reece and Mrs. Lepton Harpole of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Walter Collins of Benton; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The family is staying at Hotel Emmerson while in Mt. Vernon for the funeral.
