A graduate of Lehigh University, Alfred was serving as a 1st Lieutenant with the U.S. Army Air Force when he was killed while piloting a B-17 either by flak or when his plane exploded on a bombing mission west of Bratislava.

Elizabeth Ritch Harvey, 84, a Greenwich native, died May 28 at her home. She succumbed to cancer, said her family. Born April 23, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Hudson L. and Helen Husted Ritch. She graduated from Greenwich High School and Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pa. She worked as a realtor in Greenwich for many years. Harvey was a member of both the Green-wich Country Club and the Indian Harbor Yacht Club. A son, John W. Judson of Greenwich, and four grandchildren survive her. She was predeceased by her husband, H. Donald Harvey, and a brother, Hudson L. Ritch Jr. The services and burial were private. Memorial donations may be sent to Greenwich Hospital Homecare Hospice, 5 Perryridge Road, Greenwich, CT 06830. The Fred D. Knapp & Son Funeral Home handled arrangements.
