MARION BROWN OBITUARY
Marion Francis Brown, 91, passed away peacefully Oct. 7th, 2022, at the Highland Nazareth Home in Louisville, KY. She was born April 21st, 1931, in Louisville, where she resided most of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Deane (Kannapell) McDonald, her younger brother James, and former husband, John M. Brown.

She was a graduate of Christ the King School, Loretto High School and Webster College (St. Louis), where she earned a Master's degree in English. She taught at Loretto High School, also volunteered at St. Raphael Parish, where she was a life-long member, and which her children attended. She later joined the St. Xavier High School staff and was an integral part of the St. Xavier "Extravaganza" fundraising committee for many years.

Marion was a loyal supporter of the arts, opera being a favorite. She was a docent at the J.B. Speed Art Museum for over 20 years, as well as a member of The Filson Historical Society, Preservation Alliance and Louisville Nature Center, where she met many lifelong friends.

As a Granny, she enjoyed mentoring and enriching her six (6) grandchildren to the Louisville Arts Community, including Tyler Park, Falls of the Ohio, the Zoo, The Speed Museum and the Library.

Her hobbies included being a prodigious reader, as well as a golfer at Seneca, Shawnee and Crescent Hill courses. She enjoyed all sports and passed that interest on to her children and grandchildren.

Marion was a world traveler and saw many amazing countries and places, Paris and New York being among her favorites. She was an interesting and knowledgeable conversationalist, and a wonderful mom and person. She will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Robert Brown (Phuong), Barbara Ann Dayton, Thomas Brown (Rose), and James Brown (Patricia McQuade). She is survived by six grandchildren: Katherine Brown, Morgan and Maura Dayton, Eleanore Chaney (James), Audrey and Lowell Brown; and her great-grandchildren, William and Campbell Chaney. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas McDonald.

Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 14th, 10 am – 12 pm, with a 12 pm service at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Burial will follow at St. Louis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to The Fund for the Arts or Olmstead Park Conservancy.
