The Topeka Daily Capital of Wednesday, November 12, 1958 said, "Osage City Soldier Dies on Exercise. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest (T) Bodine, Osage City have been notified of the death of their son, S4/C Preston (C.) Bodine 24, Monday at Ft. Lewis, Washington (Nov. 10, 1958). Two other soldiers were injured in an accident in an accident when their army tank flipped backwards during training exercises...Bodine, who entered the Army April 2, 1957, graduated from Osage High School in 1952..."

Two Soldiers Killed In Training Accident
FT. LEWIS, Wash (AP)-PFC. Max F. Remners, 24-year-old son of Mrs. Rosa Schoenhals of Marion, Kas., died yesterday of injuries from an Army training accident. Remners was hurt Monday when an armored personnel carrier flipped over. Preston C. Bodine, 24, a specialist fourth class from Osage City, Kas., was killed in the accident. A third soldier was injured but is recovering.

Preston G. Bodine, son of Ernest P. & Ethel M. Bodine, died 10 Nov 1958 at Fort Lewis, Pierce County, aged 24 years.
Preston Bodine was buried in Osage City Cemetery, Osage County, Kansas.
