Oliver Hamilton Bodine Sr., a 45-year resident of Huntington and former president of Bodine Chemical Corp of Farmingdale, died July 3 at Huntington Hospital He was 76. For more than 50 years, Mr. Bodine actively maintained a family involvement in the photographic company founded by his father, Howard Oliver Bodine. He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Moffett; a daughter, Barbara Pitfick of Northport; two sons, Oliver Bodine Jr. of Garrison, N.Y. and John Howard Bodine of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Howard Oliver Bodine of Southington, Conn.; two sisters, Cecile Woodhead of Fort Salonga and Janeth Hayes of Florida; and six grandchildren. Services were conducted Tuesday, July 6, at the Haddex Funeral Home. Burial will take place at St. John's Cemetery, Cold Spring Harbor. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made in Mr Bodine's memory to Huntington Hospital.

BODINE - Dorothy Moffett was born in Denver, Colorado, on November 23, 1912, to John and Henrietta Moffett. She shared a love of the outdoors, adventure, and medicine with her father who was a physician. Upon completing her nursing degree at Mount St Joseph's in Cincinnati, she took a position with the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City where she met and married Oliver H. Bodine in 1939 and settled in Huntington in 1943. Dorothy lived independently following her husband's death in 1982, and was able to remain in her home of 68 years until her death March 7, 2014. Dorothy is survived by her children, Oliver (Blue) and John (Linda) Bodine, Barbara Pitfick, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, neighbors, and family friends.
