WALTON---Dorothy B. Smith, 86, of Walton passed away Friday evening, June 3, 2005, in the Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton, after a long illness.Mrs. Smith was born May 19, 1919, in Loomis Brook, the daughter of the late LeRoy and Mildred Van Akin Budine. On Oct. 27, 1936, she married Robert B. Smith in Hancock. They had a farm on Third Brook Road until 1944, when they moved to the John Hamilton Farm on the Delhi-Treadwell Road and lived there until 1997, when her husband passed away. Dorothy assisted her husband in the operation of the family farm, where she loved the farm life, the outdoors, and took great pride in the cattle she raised. Later she worked for Cadi for 26 years, where she enjoyed working with the students.She is survived by one daughter, Mary A. Dunne of Franklin; three sons, Dr. William G. Smith and his wife, Alice, of Walton, James R. Smith and his wife, Barbara, Ronald E. Smith and his wife, Joyce, both of Delhi; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Marsico of Walton and Ruth North of Franklin; her special friend, Charlotte Szczesh of Walton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, on April 24, 1997; two great-grandsons, Jesse Jordan in 1997 and Noah Smith in 2000; two great-granddaughters, Abigail Smith in 2000 and Emma Leigh Smith in 2002; a brother, Harry Budine; and a sister, Florence Kozlowski. Friends and relatives are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Presbyterian Church, Walton, with the Rev. Dr. James F. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Dorothy's memory may be made to United Presbyterian Church, Walton, First Presbyterian Church, Delhi or Catskill Area Hospice, Oneonta.
