I made a copy of an entry in the Wills and Administrations of Columbia County, PA (Book 2, p. 32) for Thomas Girton "of Madison Township, deceased." His two oldest children, the only ones of age when he died, renounce their right of administration in favor of their uncle, William Girton. That part reads, "Know all men by these presents that we desire and Ellenor Girton of the Township of Madison being the honly heirs of Thomas Girton deceased that have arrived at the age of twenty-one renounce the administration of the goods and chattell and desire that the same may be committed our Uncle William Girton Esquire..." The girls had written this on February 22, 1837 and it was rewritten into this file on February 24, 1837. Sureties were Peter Leidy and Lyman Sholes.
