Mary B. ‘Aunt Mary’ Bodine

Mary B. ‘Aunt Mary’ Bodine, 94, Covington, formerly of Hillsboro, died 8 a.m. Saturday in her residence.

Mrs. Bodine had been a seamstress at Windbreaker for 35 1/2 years. She attended Community Bible Baptist Church for many years and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a 1928 Hillsboro High School graduate.

She was born Feb. 13, 1909, at Hillsboro, to John Elmer Uplinger and Isabel Calvert. She married Ned D. Bodine on Aug. 24, 1940. He died April 4, 1981. She raised two nieces, Margaret Sanders of Covington and Lillian Uplinger, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include a sister, Margaret Uplinger Collins, Hammond, and a stepdaughter, Martha Lou Stoker, Lafayette.

Three brothers, Byron, John and Arthur Uplinger, are deceased.

Funeral services are scheduled 11 a.m. Tuesday in Shelby Funeral Home, 622 Third St., Covington, with the Rev. David Frazeur officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. today.
