Noah Bodine Kimbark was born on May 20, 1821 to a Daniel and Mary Kimbark in
Montgomery (and died on March 1, 1888 and is buried in Montgomery). He enlisted in company "H" of the 124th NYSVI in August of 1862. He was wounded at Chancelorsville and wounded again at Gettysburg. A statement from Corp. Noah B. Kimbark appears on page 187-190 of History of the 124th New York Volunteers by Charles H. Weygant, Journal Printing House, Newburg N.Y. 1877. He is also mentioned in several other publications and articles about the 124th NYSVI and the battle for Devil's Den.

My favorite work about the 124th is a painting by Don Troiani entitled "The Men Must See Us Today." That work accurately depicts the "Gallant Son's of Orange" as they boldly prepare to defend the parrot rifles of the 4th NY Battery which supported the Union 3rd Corps from the advancing 1st Texas Volunteer infantry Regiment. The charge of the Orange County Regiment enabled 3 of the 4 guns to be successfully removed but Hobart Ward's Brigade eventually retreated leaving the area of Devil's Den in the hands of the Confederates.

Corp. NB Kimbark was wounded in during the heroic charge but did live to tell his tale. I am interested in any information regarding Noah and am particularly interested in a picture (a copy is fine). I'd Like to submit his story to appear in Civil War Times. I can be contacted at

Any help with this would be appreciated.
