Notes for: Robert Leon Bodine

From Ronny Bodine:

The Lima News, 12 July 1935.
KENTON, July 12---Robert Bodine, 13, a Boy Scout, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bodine, 1010 S. Main-st, was drowned , last night in Lake Idlewild, three miles north of Kenton, while on an overnight hike with a group of other scouts. After young Bodine had been missing for an hour from Camp Simon Kenton, where the scouts were quartered, his chums became alarmed and went to the lake where they believed the victim had gone to swim. Shortly afterward, the body was recovered from a spot where bubbles were seen on the surface of the water. Artificial respiration and pulmotors were used until 1 a.m. when physicians pronounced the boy dead. He had been in the water almost an hour when found, it is believed. Roscoe Jones, a life guard stationed at the lake, said he was unaware that anyone was swimming in the section where Bodine went down.

Robert Bodine was buried in Wolf Creek Cemetery near Kenton.
