In 1840, Thomas Bodine lived in Northampton Township, Burlington County. His household consisted of 1 male age 40-49 (Thomas, born 1790), 1 male age 15-19 (James, born 1822), 1 female age 40-50 (Mary, born 1797) and 1 female age 20-29 (Margaret, born 1819). The Burlington County Death Records report that Thomas Bodine, son of Joseph and Leah Bodine, died 19 Jan 1849 in Pemberton at the age of 58. He had been born in Cranbury, Middlesex County, was a farmer, and was married. On 25 Jan 1849, an inventory of his estate was made by Benajah Antrim. Taking into account his death in 1849 and having been married at the time of his death, it appears likely that Mary Ann Rynear was his widow. In 1850, Mary Bodine, age 52, was living with James Bodine, age 28, presumed to be her son. In 1870, Mary Ann Bodine, age 72, was head of a household that included Margaretta Bodine, age 51 and James Bodine, age 48. The Burlington County Death Records report that Mary Ann Bodine, daughter of James and Mary Rynear, died 30 Sept 1872 in Pemberton at the age of 75 of paraylsis. She had been born in Pemberton and was widowed. The New Jersey Mirror of 3 Oct 1872 also reported her death as Mary Ann Bodine, widow of the late Thomas Bodine, died on the 1st instant (i.e. 1 Oct) near Pemberton.
Thomas and Mary Ann Bodine were buried in the Pemberton Methodist Cemetery. The inscriptions read Thomas Bodine "Our Father" born June 4, 1791 died Jan. 15, 1849 in his 58th year; Mary Ann Bodine "Our Mother" born Dec 19, 1797, died Sept 30, 1872, aged 74 y. 3 m. 11 d. The date of death of Thomas differs by 4 days between his gravestone and county death record.
