Notes for: Oscar C. Bodine

Oscar appears to be in the 1930 Bodine Reunion list in New Jersey. Listed below him in order are Gertrude Bodine, Mrs. V. C. Bodine, Marion E. Bodine, Dorothy T. Bodine, and Oscar Bodine, Jr. They are all from Trenton. According to Victor Charles Bodine, Gertrude was his adopted daughter. Marion (Marian?), Dorothy, and Oscar, Jr. were the children of Mr. and Mrs. V. C. (Victor Chamberlain) Bodine.

Brian David Bodine thinks Oscar, and maybe his father, were from Delaware Township in Hunterdon Co., NJ.

In the 1920 Census of Hamilton Twp., Mercer Co., NJ, Oscar and Elizabeth have a daughter listed named Ruth L. Bodine. It looks like she is 21 years old and worked as a teacher. Maybe that is Gertrude?

From a newspaper article, it looks like Oscar was Methodist.

Subject: Oscar C. Bodine's second wife

Hi Dave,

I am friends with Brian Bodine of Trenton, NJ and we are distant cousins as well. I am not a Bodine-at least not that I have found so far J, but we connect distantly 8th cousins and closer thu a mutual great aunt (mine) and a great uncle (his) marriage. I have been helping him with some of his Bodine searches and have come across the maiden name of the second wife of his ggrandfather Oscar C. Bodine. She is Elizabeth Risler born 1868 in Cherryville, Hunterdon County, NJ, d. October 23, 1963 in Trenton, Mercer Co., New Jersey. Apparently she was married twice as well, Oscar being her second husband. She is buried in the Cherryville Mountainview Cemetery, Flemington, NJ with her first husband William C. Case, and her daughter and son-in-law Laura Ruth Case and husband Wallace J. Sherman.

This is confirmed by her daughter's name and stone with her husband in the cemetery which coordinates with the info in the obit.
