I'm 55 years old and your website has told me more about my grandmothers family than I ever knew. Her name was Bess Bodine from Oklahoma City. She married my grandfather, Drexel Sr. and they lived in the Dallas area for over sixty years of marriage ... With the help of your website I am trying to piece together what I can. In 1930, Drexel Holt and his family lived in Dallas, Texas where Drexel was employed as the assistant automatic chief for Western Union Telegraph.
1940 Dallas, Dallas Co., TX: D. M. HOLT 45 GA asst chief-Western Union, Bessie 40 OK wife, Betty L. 16 TX dau. Residence on 1 April 1935-Same place.

HOLT. Mrs. Bessie Jane, age 83, of 2201 Holt Place, Arlington, passed away Wednesday. Former Dallas resident for 25 years. Arlington resident for the past 20 years. Survived by husband, Drexel M. Holt, Sr., daughter, Mrs. Bettye Louise Russell, Arlington; seven grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, sister, Mrs. Ora Jane Parett, Dallas. Funeral services 11:30 a.m., Friday. Moore Funeral Chapel. Interment Laurel Land Cemetery, Dallas. Hugh M. Moore & Sons, 1219 N. Davis Dr., Arlington.

Drexel Morgan Holt Sr., 91, a long-time Arlington resident, died Saturday in an Arlington nursing home. Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home Arlington Chapel. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas. Holt was born in Atlanta and moved to Arlington in 1966. He was manager of the Western Union office in Dallas until his retirement in 1957. Survivors include one daughter, Bettye Louise Russell of Arlington; two brothers, Henry Holt of Wilson, N.C., and Deleon Holt of Columbia, S.C.; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
