Notes for: Ann (Nanne) Bodine
This Ann Bodine is mentioned on page 34 of the Britton genealogy. A descendant, Mrs. Kennedy, "recalled her grandmother on the Bodine side 'so erect and aristocratic.' Their home and lands were where the County Farm is now." This comes from the diary of Ida Dudley Dale at the Staten Island Historical Society.
I did have John Housman married to the wrong Ann Bodine. According to the Britton genealogy, it should be this Ann Bodine.
From Ronny Bodine:
Ann Bodine was bapt. 7 Oct 1770 at St. Andrew's Protestant Episcopal Church, Richmond, Richmond County. She died before 15 Jan 1814 when her husband remarried. John Housman served in a number of positions, as Supervisor of Castleton 1799-1802 and 1810; member of the New York Assembly in 1804; Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in and for Richmond County, 1805-1807; Surrogate of Richmond County, 1809-1810. He died intestate at Castleton in 1825, whereupon letters of administration were granted to Patrick O'Rorke and Garrit Martling on 23 April 1825.
