John W. McAnulty died at his home seven miles southeast of Latham, Kansas, Wednesday, June 21, at 6:30 a.m., of kidney trouble. The funeral took place at the home, conducted by Rev. Dean; interment in Green Lawn cemetery. McAnulty was born in Nicalos [sic] county, Kentucky, May 11, 1827, being 72 years, 1 month and 10 days old. He moved with his parents to Indiana. December 4, 1849, he was married to Sarah J. Bodine. To this union ten sons were born; all but one of whom survive; one living in Iowa, three in Wyoming and the rest in Kansas. After marriage they settled in the old home, living there for seven years, moving from there to Iowa and at last he settled in Elk county, Kansas, where he lived the last eighteen years of his life. He had said his Maker and he were all right but he had never attached himself to any church. He was a devoted husband and a kind and loving father.

Mrs. Sarah J. McAnulty who lived two miles north of Grenola, died Friday, July 11th, at the age of 83 years, five months and 25 days. The funeral services were held on Saturday and burial in Green Lawn cemetery, Grenola. Mrs. McAnulty lived near Grenola many years, her husband dying some twelve or more years ago. She was the mother of a large family of boys who will deeply mourn the loss of their dearest friend. She was a noble, good woman and all who knew her keenly feel the loss of a dear friend.
