Notes for: Mary Housman Bodine

I have a feeling this is the Mary H. Post listed in her brother William's household in the 1880 Census of Castleton, NY. It says she is 63, but that is probably incorrect. Three nieces of William's are also listed: Ann, Kate, and Minnie Post. Their parents were born in NY.

From Ronny Bodine:

Mary Housman Bodine was bapt. 26 Dec 1824 at the Dutch Reformed Church of Port Richmond. William Albert Housman was taken sick on a voyage to the Black River in Virginia and died there. Jacob Bodine, his father-in-law, was appointed administrator of his estate (Richmond Co. Letters of Testamentary 1: 182); Captain Jacob Van Pelt Post was bapt. 15 April 1800 and apparently died by 1860 when Mary and her children were living with her brother William and mother Johanna in Castleton. Apparently unable to maintain Dongan Manor on her own after her husband's death, Mary Bodine Post sold the manor to her brother-in-law and sister, Charles and Catherine Windsor. In 1880, Mary Post was living with her brother William Bodine in Castleton.

Children of Mary Bodine and Jacob Van Pelt: Edmund Bodine (bapt. 9 July 1841), James Brownlee (bapt. 7 Sept 1842), Joanna (bapt. 30 April 1847), Catharine (bapt. 4 Aug 1848), Charles Windsor (bapt. 15 June 1851), Norman Augustus (bapt. 30 July 1852), Lyman (bapt. 2 Oct 1853), Mary Amelia (bd. unk.).
