Notes for: George Bodine
There is a George Bodine (1832-1916) buried in the Owasco Rural Cemetery. It could be this one. A Mary H. Bodine (probably his wife) is listed with him in the records (1841-1916). And there is an obituary for a George Bodine in the Auburn Citizen of Wednesday, July 12, 1916 (Cayuga Co., NY). It looks like it must be this George Bodine, but that is a guess. He died July 12, 1916 at age 84(?). Funeral services were at the home of his son, Cornelius Bodine, and he was to be buried at Owasco Rural Cemetery. Some info on the will appeared in the Post Standard of Syracuse, NY of August 9, 1916. It seems to confirm that this George is the one who died in 1916. James Danforth Bodine and Cornelius C. Bodine were both alive at the time. It says George died in Niles and that Helen M. Bodine was also deceased. Cornelius inherited all the property since James Danford (sp?) Bodine had already inherited his share.
The obituary for "Mrs. Mary Bodine" is found in the Auburn Citizen of Monday, April 3, 1916. She died at the home of her son after a 10 month illness. She was from Niles and had only moved to Auburn five months previously. She was 76 years old. Her husband one other son, Danford Bodine, of New York survived her. The funeral is also mentioned.
FamilySearch.com lists a George Bodine, born 1835, of Niles, Cayuga County and his wife, Helen. She was born in 1836 in New York. They were married about 1857 in New York.
After further research, my guess is that the George Bodine listed next to Cornelius and Rachel Bodine in the 1860 Census of Cayuga Co., NY is this George Bodine. A George Bodine is not listed in Cornelius and Rachel's household; so he must have moved out by then. That census info is the following:
Bodine George 24 M . Farmer 5,400 900 New York
Bodine Helen 19 F . . . . New York
Bodine Danford J 1 M . . . . New York
Bodine Charles 20 M . . . . Germany
