Notes for: Catherine ("Caty") Bodine
Catherine never married. Catherine is mentioned as "my two youngest Daughters Hannah and Caty Bodine" in Cornelius' will.
She looks to be the Catherin Bodine mentioned in the Auburn Argus of Friday, January 15, 1897 as being deceased. Letters were issued to John M. Bodine. That must be her nephew, John Martin Bodine. A big lawsuit involving the whole family ensued, but I don't know what they motive was.
She must be the Catherine Bodine buried in Owasco Cemetery on Nov. 19, 1896.
The following lawsuit helps to explain a lot about this family. Letters on Catherine's estate were issued to her nephew John M. Bodine in early 1897. John M. Bodine, for some reason, then sues just about the whole family. Their names come out in the Auburn Bulletin of Friday, June 4, 1897. I'll divide up the article into sections to help explain who is who.

SUPREME COURT - COUNTY OF CAUYGA
John M. Bodine against Hannah Mattoon,
Note: Hannah appears to be Catherine Bodine's only living sibling. All Catherine's other siblings had died by 1897. That is why Hannah Mattoon is mentioned first in the lawsuit. Next to be mentioned are Catherine's nieces and nephews, or if her nieces and nephews were deceased, their children would be mentioned. These descendants of Catherine's siblings appear to come in family groups.
Betsey A. Robinson, James Robinson, Cora Clinger Owings and Ora A. Owings, her husband. Charles Robinson and Mary E. Robinson, his wife. Mary J. Gatchell. Henry Robinson and Melissa Robinson, his wife. Ray Wine. Bessie Wine.
Note: My guess is that these are the children and descendants of Catherine's oldest sibling, Ann Bodine. I don't know who Ann married, but it must have been a Robinson.
Janett Devoe and Albert Devoe, her husband, William E. Bodine and Kate Bodine, his wife.
Note: These are the surviving children (with their spouses) of Catherine's third-oldest sister, Sarah Bodine. Sarah had married John Bernard Bodine.
Mamie L. Bodine.
Note: I'm not sure who this Bodine is. From other info I found, she could be a minor. The way the suit is written, she must be related to Janett and William Bodine above. Maybe she is the daughter of an unknown brother to Janett and William.
Peter B. Van Fleet and Rachel M. Van Fleet, his wife, Cornelius Van Fleet and Cilmena F. Van Fleet, his wife, Sally Ann Van Fleet, Sarah Cornelia Taylor and Henry Taylor, her husband, Fayette B. Phillips and Clara H. Phillips, his wife. Wilmer Elmer Phillips. John M. Phillips and Victoria Green Phillips, his wife, Elizabeth P. Turner and Moses B. Turner, her husband.
Note: These are the descendants of Catherine's second-oldest sister, Elizabeth Bodine and her husband John Van Fleet.
George Bodine and Helen Bodine, his wife. Margaret A. Bodine. Sarah A. Brokaw and Nelson Brokaw, her husband, George Conklin and Jennie Conklin, his wife. Charles H. Conklin and Estelle Conklin, his wife. Cornelius Wilson Conklin and Annie Conklin, his wife. Delia Church and Stewart Church, her husband.
Note: George is John Martin Bodine's brother. I think Margaret A. Bodine must be John Martin Bodine's wife. Sarah Brokaw could be his sister, but I don't know about her if she is. More likely is that she was born a Conklin, the daughter of John M. Bodine's sister. The Conklin's are descendants of his sister Mary. They are descendants of Catherine's eighth-oldest sibling, Cornelius C. Bodine.
George K. Bodine and Diana Bodine, his wife. Caroline Winters, Elizabeth Bodine.
Note: These look to be the descendants of Catherine Bodine's seventh-oldest sibling, Peter C. Bodine. Peter and his wife and both died by 1891.
Helen P. Thompson and John A. Thompson, her husband, Sarah C. Thompson and James O. Thompson, her husband. Bartlett Bodine and Maria A. Bodine, his wife, D. Webster Bodine. Elizabeth H. Lapp and Henry Lapp, her husband, Cornelius Bodine and Emma Bodine, his wife, Frank A. Bivins and Bertha Bivins, his wife, Helen E. Bivins.
Note: These are the descendants of Catherine's sixth-oldest sibling, Abraham C. Bodine. Both Abraham and his wife had died by 1884.
Hannah Bodine Thompson and Archibald Thompson, her husband, William Bodine. Marv. B. Hunter.
Note: These are descedants of Catherine's fourth-oldest sibling, John C. Bodine.
