Notes for: Job Bodine
From Ronny Bodine (June 26, 2019):
There can be little doubt that 35-year old Job Bodine living 1850 in Ontario County, New York was identical with Job Bodine baptized on 13 Dec 1813 in the German Reformed Church of Montgomery, Orange County, New York as the son of Peter Bodine Jr and his wife Ann Milspaugh.
In June 1850, Job Bodine, 35, lived in Gorham, Ontario County, New York with his wife Amy 30, and children Fany M. 10 and Theodore 5. In June 1860, Job and Anna Bodine lived in Waterloo, Seneca County with their two children, Anna 20 and Theodore 15. In June 1870, they lived in Tyre, Seneca County and in June 1880, Jobe Bodine, 66 and his wife Amy, 60, lived in Junius, Seneca County, engaged in farming. In June 1900, Amy Bodine, age 70, lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Stephen Paine, in Junius, Seneca County. She was a widow and of her 2 children, only her daughter Anna was living.
From New York Death Records:
Job Bodine died 12 Nov 1886 in Junius, Seneca County.
Amy M. Bodine died 4 June 1908 in Junius, Seneca County.
Obituary, Geneva Daily Times (Geneca, N.Y.) of 5 June 1908.
Waterloo, June 5.---Mrs. Amy M. Bodine, widow of Job Bodine, died at her late home in the town of Junius yesterday afternoon, at the age of 87 years. Mrs. Bodine was one of the oldest residents of her town, where she was highly respected. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Junius, known as the "Stone Church," for 45 years. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Stephen Paine, of the town of Junius. The funeral will be held from the Stone church on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 , the Rev. W. T. Wells of Tyre officiating.
Obituary, Northern Christian Advocate (Syracuse and Buffalo, N.Y.) of 8 Oct 1908.
Mrs. Amy Bodine was born in the town of Italy, Yates county, N.Y., November 3, 1820, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stephen Paine, in Junius, N.Y., June 4, 1908. Her father, Valentine Graham, was one of the first settlers of Yates county, when it was almost unbroken wilderness. Of his family of sixteen children, two sons only are now living. In September, 1839, she was married to Job Bodine and after living twelve years in Rushville, N.Y., and subsequently for a time near Geneva, she came with her family to live in the town of Junius, Seneca county, in which she resided forty-six years. A son was killed by accident thirty years ago and her husband died about nine years later. Sister Bodine was converted at the age of sixteen and joining the Methodist Episcopal church, became, as her nature indicated, an active and useful worker, always her pastor's helper and friend to the best of her ability and opportunity. At one time she conducted two Sunday schools herself in schoolhouses. For many years a member of our church in Junius. the pastor and his family were often beneficiaries of her generous heart and skillful hand. In her later years she was confined to the room where she used to make fancy work in bright colors, for momentoes to her friends. At last death came as a friend and ushered her into the presence of the Lord whom she loved. After a funeral service in the church, at which her pastor preached from Rev. 14:13, the burial took place in the cemetery at Waterloo, N.Y. M. J. Wells

Hi my name is chris santoro I am writing on my wifes e-mail account ( Jeannie ) since she is the decendant of the bodine family. I am writing about Fanny N Bodine-Paine to give you an update. She married my wifes Great...Grandfather Stephen Paine which you have on the site. While doing research I found that Amy ( Fannies Mom) lived with the Paines in waterloo on the farm after Job ( her dad) past away. Another site listed his name as John. I think I found on another website that Job actually passed in Steven Paines house. We have a picture of Fanny (Anna) in later years that we can send you. The picture says she died in Byers Colorado on oct 14th 1930. She married Stephen Paine aug 20th 1864. Her Son edward paine my wifes great grandfather came to colorado from waterloo because of lung issues. He homesteaded out here in byers colorado. That is probably how fanny wound up dying out here. Will find out if she is burried at the cemetary. Thanks Chris
