The Last Will and Testament of Esther Winfield Bodine, of the City and County of Spokane and State of Washington dated -- June 1909, names as heirs "my sister in law, Mrs. Nettie Bodine, of St. Louis, Missouri." Also George W. Clous of Spokane, Washington and "my niece, Miss Minnie Louise Wardell, of Battle Creek, Michigan." Executor is George W. Clous. The will was witnessed 30 June 1909 by Caroline E. Cooper and Florence W. Clous and was filed and recorded 2 Feb 1925 in Bradenton, Manatee County, Florida. [Manatee County Wills, B: 346-350]
Note: The foregoing will makes it clear that Esther Winfield Bodine, who died in Los Angeles 18 Nov 1921 is the same person whose will was proved in Bradenton, Florida 2 Feb 1925. Mrs. Nettie Bodine, named in the will, was the wife of Esther's brother, Egbert Bodine, both of whom lived in St. Louis. Her niece, Miss Minnie Louise Wardell, was the daughter of her sister, Permilla Sears Bodine Wardell. George W. Clous, one of the heirs and executors, was her employer as noted in the foregoing 1910 census. The disparity in her age in 1910 and 1920 may be due to her wish not to reveal to her employers that she was actually 10 years older.
