Notes for: Amplius Blake Chamberlin ("ABC") Bodine
His name might have been "Ampleus" in 1895 Census. I've also seen it as "Ampheus." I believe this spelling comes from Mr. Charles Fisher at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, Flemington, NJ.

Greetings. As as FYI: out on www.distantcousin.com is a 1909 City Directory of Plainfield NJ and in it is listed Amplius B.C. Bodine. Several other Bodines are listed as well. Just thought I let you on a website.

FLEMINGTON, Dec. 5.---Amplius B. C. Bodine, 68, retired contractor and lumber dealer, died at the Muhlenberg Hospital, Plainfield, yesterday, from a heart ailment. Mr. Bodine was taken to the hospital a month ago. He was born at Locktown, September 8, 1872, and was a son of the late Samuel and Jane Bird Bodine. He was married to Ellen S. Hoagland, April 4, 1895, and resided in Pittstown several years where he was engaged in the lumber business. He moved to Plainfield where he engaged in the lumber business. He moved to Plainfield where he engaged in the contracting business until 1910 when he moved to Flemington, erected a home at 196 Main Street and operated a lumber business in Ringoes. In 1920 he started a lumber business here which is now known as the Bodine Lumber Company, Inc. He was vice president of the company. Mr. Bodine was a member of the official board of the Methodist Church; a member of Grandview Grange, Crescent Lodge Knights of Pythias, Flemington Lodge of Odd Fellows; was elected a director of the Hunterdon County National Bank, January 24, 1924; and was a former member of the Board of Education and former director of the Flemington Building and Loan Association. Mr. Bodine, besides his wife, leaves two sons, Freeholder Samuel L. Bodine and Clarence Bodine; four grandchildren, and two brothers, Joseph and George Bodine, of Flemington. Funeral services will be held at Holcombe's Funeral Home, Saturday, at 2 P.M., conducted by the Rev. Fred G. Hubach, pastor of the Methodist Church. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home, Friday evening, from 7 to 9 o'clock.

FLEMINGTON--Mrs. Ellen Schenk Hoagland Bodine, 76, widow of Amphlius B. C. Bodine, died today at her home, 196 South Main Street. Surviving are two sons, State Senator Samuel L. Bodine of Hunterdon County and Clarence H. Bodine, both of Flemington; a foster daughter, Mrs. Marvin Volk of Cherryville; four grandchildren and a great- grandchild. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Holcombe Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Hawn of the Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
