Notes for: Amsa (Amasa) Horton Bodine
Amasa lived in Prattsburg, New York (note from "The Millspaugh Family in America"). There is a grave for a "Serbella" (unreadable stone), daughter of A. H. and Mary Bodine in the Montgomery DRC Cemetery. She died 9/25/1865 at at age 2-1-5. Someone marked that A. H. stood for "Amasa H." Therefore, Serebella may or may not be their child. It appears that they had another child name Serbella after this. A descendant, Janet Topogna (JanetMarie60 at email.msn.com) wrote me in October 2000.
Amasa was probably listed as "Amizi" in the 1850 Census of Montgomery, Orange County, New York. He is listed in the house of his father, Sylvanus. In the 1855 Census, there is a male listed as Amsa. He and Frederick are shown as Sylvanus' sons.
