Notes for: Jacob Bordine
There was a David M. Bordine recorded in the Ithaca, Michigan court records who MAY have been related to Lucy A. Bordine, Jacob's wife. The records simply said David M. (Bordine?), 1866-1908 G.R. Dana Bordine has only been able to find one child, Frank, so far for this family. The 1850 and 1860 Censuses from Lenawee County still need to be checked. Info from Karen Bordine says Jacob was born in New York. No source was given.
I found Jacob in the 1880 Census of Walton, Labette Co., KS. Jacob is a farmer, age 46, born in NY. Both parents are born in NY, too. No wife is listed. His three children are listed (and a niece): Estella (17, MI, NY, NY); Eugene (16, MI, NY, NY); and Mary (15, MI, NY, NY). The niece is Ella Kitchel (15, MI, MI, MI).
I later found him in the 1870 Census of Dover, Lenawee Co., MI: Jacob Burdine (40, NY), Lucy A. (36, NY), Alonza B. (female, 12, MI), Estella (8, MI), Eugene (6, MI), Mary (4, MI), and Charles (1, MI).

Obituary, Ulysses (KS) Tribune of Fri., 31 Oct 1890.
DIED---On Monday Oct. 27, 1890, at his home near the Baker school house, Jacob Bordine, aged 58 years, of Sciatic Rheumatism. The following day the funeral services, conducted by Rev. R. Farguson, were attended by a large concourse of friends and neighbors. Mr. Bordine was one of the old settlers of Grant county, and was honored and respected by all who knew him, He died just 5 years and 2 months after coming into the county, and was buried just that long after taking the land where he proved up. In all those years none of his acquaintenances can point to a single mean act. He lived the life of a noble citizen and after a long illness, died as the good man dieth, with the assurance of a better life beyond the grave. He leaves a widow and two small children at home, and other married children. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of the entire community.
