Lora E. Bodine, 81, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010, at her residence. She was born Jan. 11, 1929, in Hall to Gilbert Cooper and Bersha (Bell) Cooper. She married James D. Bodine on Aug. 28, 1948, in Lafayette. He survives. She was a 1947 graduate of Center Grove High School and a 1971 graduate of the University of Indianapolis and earned a master's degree in elementary education from Indiana University Bloomington in 1976. She was a kindergarten teacher at Bargersville Christian Church. She started her professional teaching career with the Center Grove Community School Corp. as a first-grade and third-grade teacher, retiring in 1987 after 17 years. She was an active member of Nineveh Christian Church. She cherished her friends and family and was especially known for her talents in stained glass, quilting and gardening. She was a graduate of the Johnson County Master Gardeners. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, James D. Bodine of Franklin; two sons, Michael J. Bodine and his wife, Lana, of Martinsville and Fred E. Bodine of Dallas; two daughters, Becky S. Smart and her husband, Mark, of Nineveh and Lisa A. Enright and her husband, Scott, of Carmel; seven grandchildren, Kristen M. Lovell and her husband, David, and Carmen M. Bodine, both of Indianapolis, Annie L. Syers and her husband, Anthony, of Greenwood, Dayna R. Smart of Nineveh, Kayley A. Bodine of Martinsville, and Andy S. Enright and Abbie L. Enright, both of Carmel; four great-grandchildren, Tatum Syers, Beau Syers, Ryan Lovell and Tyler Lovell; a half brother, Rick Cooper and his wife, Mae, of Martinsville; and a half sister, Sandra Gray and her husband, Jerry, of Martinsville. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, J.C. Cooper; and a sister, Lois West. The Revs. Thomas Knight and Bill Enright will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Inurnment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

James D. Bodine of Franklin passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born March 4, 1929 in Covington, Indiana to Harry Eugene Bodine and Louise (Nebeker) Bodine. He married Lora E. (Cooper) Bodine on August 28, 1948 in Lafayette, Indiana, she preceded him in death on May 6, 2010. He was a 1947 graduate of Center Grove High School and attended Franklin College where he played baseball and was a member of Kappa Delta Rho. He was a former longtime member of Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church at Stones Crossing and a member of Nineveh Christian Church. In 1959 he helped organize the Center Grove Little League Program. He also had been a member of the Knights of Pythias. He enjoyed dancing, big band music, all kinds of sports, golfing, woodworking, and he was especially devoted to following all of his children and grandchildren's sports activities and achievements. Jim Bodine retired in 1985 after 30 years at General Motors Allison Transmission in Indianapolis as superintendent of production and control. Survivors include two sons Michael J. (Lana) Bodine of Martinsville, Fred E. Bodine of Dallas, Texas, two daughters Becky S. (Mark) Smart of Nineveh and Lisa A. (Scott) Enright of Carmel, a sister Sue (Chuck) Boltz of Greenwood, seven grandchildren Kristen M. Lovell (David) of Indianapolis, Annie L. (Anthony) Syers of Greenwood, Dayna R. Smart of Nineveh, Carmen M. Bodine of Indianapolis, Kayley A. Bodine of Martinsville, Andy S. Enright and Abbie L. Enright of Carmel, five great grandchildren Tatum Syers, Beau Syers, Finley Syers, Ryan Lovell, and Tyler Lovell. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lora E. Bodine, and half-brothers Robert Eugene Bodine and Martin Stanton "Bud" Bodine. Dr. Bill Enright will conduct a service Monday 11AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call Sunday from 1PM till 5PM at the mortuary and Monday from 10AM till service time. Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
